Student Earns Guitar Scholarship at New England Conservatory

Tom's student, Jim Perona, has accepted a guitar scholarship from the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music, in Boston, where he will pursue a Masters degree in classical guitar. Jim will be studying with world renowned guitarist and performer, Eliot Fisk.

Jim started guitar lessons and studying guitar with Tom when he was only nine years old and continued through high school. When studying with Tom, Jim worked on sight reading, improvisation, transcription, chord theory, composition, technique, and ear training. Jim was also a frequent guest guitarist at Tom's own gigs with The Amy Kelly Band.

While in high school, Jim began playing in pit orchestras for commercial musical productions as well as several prog rock bands. With those valuable skills and experience under his fingers Jim auditioned and received a guitar scholarship from Northern Illinois University to study with Jazz & Classical guitarist Fareed Haque. Jim now continues his guitar education at New England Conservatory of Music.

Great job Jim!
